You have the date, you have the venue. Now get a room.
For your wedding, I encourage you to stay in the best hotel you can afford. Yes, you will likely be exhausted at the end of the evening, but you will also enjoy coming back to a clean and fresh room at the end of the night. With a hotel, you may also use the room to primp with your bridesmaids and/or family members before the ceremony.
Today I am profiling the fabulous Hotel Monaco in Downtown Portland. This is where I stayed when I got married, so it was a natural first choice for me to blog about. Never fear, I will be blogging about other wonderful Portland and Los Angeles establishments. Stay tuned.

A Monaco Suite
One of the reasons Hotel Monaco is fantastic is that the majority of its rooms are suites, which provide even more comfort and space to you and your groom. When you make reservations for your wedding, be sure to ask them for an early check-in if you opt to get dressed in your bridal finery at the hotel. The staff will be more than happy to oblige.

The Lobby
Other reasons Hotel Monaco is fabulous for newlyweds:
- Complimentary Internet Access. Check your flight status for the honeymoon before heading to the airport.
- 24 Hour Fitness Center. Spaciously appointed, it has a variety of machines so you can burn off the champagne the next morning.
- Complimentary Morning Coffee and Tea. Served in the lobby with a selection of newspapers, you can sit and mingle with a mug or grab a paper cup and head back upstairs.
- Evening Wine Reception. Hosted every evening in the lobby, this complimentary service is especially popular with guests.
- Aveda Bath Products. Will have you cleaned up and refreshed in no time.
- Terry Bath Robes In Each Room. Relax comfortably.
- Stunning Architecture and Design. This hotel was made for fabulous pictures--perfect for portraits or group pictures before, or a Day After Session.

The Lobby
I can personally vouch for the service at Hotel Monaco, and I have stayed there many time since our wedding. The staff is professional and fabulous. Believe me, they see many brides and grooms come through their hotel, and know the value of treating them well.

Corner Suite
When I arrived at the Monaco on the morning of our wedding day, the bellman rushed out to assist me with my things, helped my Mom and I to the room, then returned a few minutes later with a bottle of champagne and ice, compliments of the hotel. When we did our Day After Session with Lauren Brooks, no one batted an eye as we moved furniture around the lobby to get the best pictures. With that in mind, I leave you with one of my favorite photos of that day.

(Thanks to Lauren for shooing the guests out of the way and moving the furniture to get the shot, what a trooper!)
