Evening Reception at Columbia Gorge Hotel

There are so many excellent venues in the Pacific Northwest region. Unless you have a specific site in mind, the process of selecting a ceremony and reception site can be quite daunting. So many choices, so little time!

May I suggest a hotel ceremony and reception? With a variety of hotels in the region, there are myriad options for couples and their families.

Consider the Options

On the coast, wonderful pictures can be taken on the beach. In downtown Portland, you have access to stunning architecture including court buildings, historic hotels, the Park Blocks, and the waterfront. In more rural areas such as the Gorge, you have wide gorgeous open spaces along the Columbia River. Consider the Oregon wine country—photos with a vineyard backdrop can be quite stunning. Also worth considering: the beauty and grandeur of the hotel or inn itself can provide many excellent photo opportunities.

For the reception, consider the fact that many hotels offer an excellent selection of ballrooms varying in size and grandeur. Many hotels offer separate areas for the cocktail hour. Hotels can easily accommodate more intimate ceremonies and receptions as well.

The in-house hotel catering staff can tailor the meals to your tastes, and most hotels offer wide selections. You can expect to have a flawless event at major hotels. They are experienced in doing weddings and events on a regular basis. Additionally, many hotels possess great varieties of table linens, chairs, cake stands, seating card holders, table numbers, candles, and much more. I always encourage my clients to ask about these extras to see what is available.

Ease for Your Guests

Another advantage to a hotel wedding are simply the ease it provides for the wedding guests. Out of town guests can stay at the hotel, making it simple for them to arrive on time and be relaxed on your big day. This also prevents guests from getting lost or stuck in traffic as they struggle to get from site to site. At the end of the night, your guests will be relieved to return to their well-appointed guest room.

Ease for the Bride & Groom

When the big day arrives, it's relaxing to get ready in your hotel room. If you're bringing in hair and makeup experts, it's easy to book a suite with extra room for them as well as your bridal party. At the end of the night, all you and your groom have to do is sneak upstairs to end the night with champagne, strawberries, and each other!
